Goal/Objective

The CMN was launched with the intention of providing a Commonwealth-wide platform to support cooperation between mining and mining service companies, mining chambers, Governments and NGOs with mining interests. The Network aims to provide a bridge between the major mining and financial centres of the Commonwealth, including Australia, Canada, South Africa and the UK, and help support the development of the mining industry in developing Commonwealth countries, in Africa, South and South East Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands. It will also provide a platform for engagement between developing countries on mining development matters and for engagement with international and regional NGOs that have interests in mining. As well as promoting investment opportunities and supporting mining development, the Mining Network will help raise pan-industry standards for safety, sustainability, value addition, technology transfer, training and skills and local content development.
